I’m Not A KID! - Poetry Performance!

In Year 3 we have been reading and learning about different types of poetry.

We investigated the poem, 'I'm Not a Kid!' by Valerie Bloom. The children had a lot of fun practising the poem and did a great job showing expression while performing this poem. Well done Mowgli class.

Reading Books in Term 1

In Year 3 we have been Reading a range of books throughout the Term. We have used the book; Giraffes Can’t Dance, written by Giles Andreae as an inspiration for our writing in English. The magical wonderment and illustrations of the book; Leon and the Place between by Grahame Baker-Smith has captured our imagination and encouraged us to make predictions and inferences. We selected some poems to read and enjoy from Valerie Bloom’s poetry collection in the book, Hot Like Fire. We are also using the book Charlotte’s Web in our Reading lessons to help us explore new vocabulary and consider how the author uses descriptive language. We will continue to read Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White as our class novel this term.
